Well, we made it. Another week down! Do you have any plans for the weekend? A friend of mine is coming to Toronto for a visit and we have some much needed catching up to do — us ladies love to gab and I’m sure there will be no shortage of it. A fabulous quote that will make you rethink language: “Instead of saying “I don’t have time” try saying “It’s not a priority” and see how that feels. Often, that’s a perfectly adequate explanation. I have time to iron my sheets, I just don’t want to. But other things are harder. Try it: “I’m not going to edit your resume, Sweetie because it’s not a priority.” “I don’t go to the doctor because my health is not a priority.” If these phrases don’t sit well, that’s the point. Changing our language reminds us that time is a choice. If we don’t like how we’re spending an hour, we can choose differently.” God, I just love that! Have a great weekend, everyone. See you back …
It’s Friday! I kinda feel like embracing this lady’s style for the weekend; the summer is almost over and I just want to soak it all in. Do you have any exciting plans for the weekend? I honestly just feel like slowing it all down. My ideal weekend includes, lounging in the park, eating some greasy fish and chips, devouring a good book, all while taking in the warm sun. Have a relaxing weekend, everyone! See you back here on Monday, S.
This made me laugh! Isn’t it true?! I also find it interesting how people portray their lives on Instagram — for once, I would like to see the not-so-attractive parts of people’s lives. Have a great weekend, everyone! See you back here on Monday, S.
I actually can’t believe it’s Friday! For me, the last two weeks have just flown by. I’m three weeks into my new job and I still haven’t mastered the swing of things yet; I’ve got to figure out that whole work/life balance thing, ya know? That being said, I can’t wait to veg out, drink beer and go swimming at the Toronto Islands this weekend. This week I… Had a blast chillin’ with my parents — they came down to Toronto for a visit and we did something kind of odd. We took a double-decker bus tour and laughed the entire time. The best part was that the debit machine was out of service and the guy working was nice enough not to kick us off. Instead, he told us to just enjoy the free ride — how nice! Check out my Instagram for the funny pictures. Loved, Loved, Loved, The Cut’s article, Traveling Solo: A Manifesto for the Modern Woman. It certainly made me think! ((Thanks for sending it to me, Maddy!)) Got caught in a terrible rain storm …
Well peeps, we made it! I had a very long but exciting week! This week I… Started a new job as a writer for a soon-to-be released social media app that has a strong focus on building online connections through shared experiences — hello dream job! I’m so excited to be apart of such a smart and creative group of people. Went to a Jay’s game and almost got hit by a baseball ((my biggest fear)). I sat next to a nutty sports fan who kept pulling out a mini broom, landing him and my mug some lengthy TV time (ugh, how embarrassing). Couldn’t find the time to do too much leisure reading. I’m in the middle of The Slap by Christos Tsiolkas — have you read it? It’s got me on the edge of my seat. I hope you all have a relaxing week! See you back here on Monday. S.
Happy Friday, everyone! I hope your week was A-OK. This week I … Was blown away by, Mathematics, a spoken word poem by Hollie McNish — she is unbelievably talented! Found this free audiobook streaming site ((joyful backflip)) and have been listening to Eckhart Tolle’s, The Power of Now for the second time. His voice is so very zen! (I love cleaning while listening to him talk). Volunteered a lot at Story Planet. We currently have a $10 campaign running that aims to send miniature creative writers to summer camp. If you can, please donate — because in the long run, 10 bucks is nothin’. Have been listening to this song on repeat. Feel hungry just looking at this incredibly yummy photography book. All those tiny little stories blew me away! Have a terrific weekend, see you back here on Monday. S.
What a week! I don’t know if it’s the gloomy weather or if I’m coming down with something but I’m zonked! I’m either in desperate need of sunshine or more coffee. This week I…. Started seriously thinking about incorporating short stories and vignettes into my blog. Finally decided on a paint colour for my living room – well I mean, I think I did. Discovered the work of diarist, Anaïs Nin on Sho & Tell‘s blog. I’m so excited to start devouring her work. Had a serendipitous encounter that lead me to Intergalactic Travel Authority (which I thought was just a coffee shop) and now I’m so thrilled (I can’t stop talking about it) to start volunteering at this fantastic writing centre. Watched this TED Talk five times. Tracked down, A Solo Affair’s logo/header. The print is made by artist, Caroline Wright – Isn’t it great? I must have it! I hope you all have a fantastic weekend! See you back here on Monday. S.
Happy Friday, everyone! (I resisted writing “hoppy” Friday for sanity’s sake – you are very welcome) I hope you all have a fantastic Easter and if you don’t celebrate the holiday, relax and eat a chocolate bunny or two. See you back here on Monday! S.
Happy Friday everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful, stress free week. This week I… Am over the snow. Really, seriously. I’m so over it. Was shakin’ my hips to this song (It’s the perfect song to do the dishes to, don’t you think?) Broke it off with lame-o pizza buns after I unexpectedly fell head over heels in l.o.v.e with pretzel rolls. Have you tried them? Have been patiently waiting for a dinner invite so I can bring this! Bought my first pair of silk pajamas – I now sashay around the house like a queen. I’m laughing (yet slightly mortified) at this site (teenage girls are so funny!) S.
